I am an internal medicine physician with a curious and an academic mind. I spent 27 years doing medico-actuarial work for a major life insurance company. I then moved to academia for ten years as an associate professor of internal medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin. I am now a medical consultant for the American Council of Life insurers. I have had a professional and personal interest in pandemics since the mid-1980s: HIV/AIDS, SARS, Avian flu, Ebola, and now Covid-19.
